A friendly Atlantic Spotted Dolphin swims in the clear waters of Bimini

A sunburst in the clear water of Bimini frames this passing great hammerhead shark.

The Freediver provides a wonderful balance to the hammerhead and making the image black and white adds drama and contrast.

While in Isla Mujeres, my freediver buddy mimics this whale shark as it begins to go vertical to gulp in large amounts of fish eggs.

Offshore dolphins portray their personalities in unique ways. Rough-toothed dolphins have a certain prehistoric look and don’t often encounter freedivers. They can become quite curious, using their extra-flexible neck to investigate newcomers to their environment. They are also one of the main enemies of tuna fishermen, capable of filleting a caught fish while it is still on the hook.

Filling the frame is tough to do with small subjects, but helps to portray intricate color and detail once achieved.

Dropping the angle of view and capturing the whip coral in the background with such a low f-stop created a very smooth and textured swath of color behind our common subject. In my imaginative mind I see a goby riding a comet!.. No comments please..
