The story:  A female sand tiger shark is surrounded by spadefish and other small bait fish above the wreck of the Caribsea off the coast of North Carolina. These smaller fish are not typically eaten by sand tiger sharks, so they tend to surround the sand tigers for protection from other predators. Although sand tiger sharks look fierce with their rows of protruding teeth, they are actually quite docile and are easily approached by divers.

Location:  Wreck of the Caribsea, off the coast of Morehead City, North Carolina, USA

Camera:  Olympus OM-D E-M1, Panasonic Lumix 8mm fisheye lens, Nauticam housing, dual SEA&SEA YS-D1 strobes
