Love Between Scales

The Story: I had seen these parasites in a few different species of sea breams before, but if you know anything about sea breams then you know that they get scared so easily. A macro like this is almost impossible. So the story behind this shot is actually quite funny. I was out near the shore filming an octopus, while freediving, when I heard a fisherman from the shore cliff shouting at me for help. Apparently, a fish had entangled his line in a rock, and he asked if I could set the line free. I couldn’t do it, so I just cut the line, but I also ensured I would remove the hook from the fish’s mouth. I was amazed when I saw this couple attached to it, so, before releasing it, I took some close-up shots with the camera, which was still in my hand all this time!

Location: Tremoços beach, Algarve, Portugal.

Equipment Used: Olympus TG-6 Camera, Olympus PT-059 Housing

Camera Settings: ISO 100, F4, 1/320 sec
