“The Next Generation“
The Story: Tubesnout nests are normally an unphotogenic mess of eggs, algal growth, and white fluid used to bind the mass to the kelp. When I saw this nest, I was ecstatic because of how clean it was. Clusters of tiny jewels carefully spaced among the crooks of a young Giant Kelp stipe perfectly encapsulating new beginnings and the next generation in Monterey Bay.
