“Marble Cradle“
The Story:
This shot was taken inside a Carrara marble quarry, the same type of quarry used by Donatello. The quarries here are private and still in operation, but mining has been ceased at the Valsora Quarry to preserve the Tritone Alpestre, which is present year-round. During the spring breeding period, these creatures appear in their most ungainly form, rising to the surface to breathe. They become like a living canvas, framed by the surrounding marble.
