The Story: This tiny larval inch Swordfish almost seems to know that it will grow into one of the fiercest predators in the ocean. If it reaches adulthood it can easily grow to 10 feet in length and become one of the fastest fish in the ocean.  The tiny larvae can be found fairly consistently during blackwater dives off the coast of Florida and, even at these small sizes, they can appear to show an attitude as they snap their bills menacingly.  The challenge when they start to rapidly open and close their mouths is to try and show this behavior in a photograph.

Location:  Palm Beach, Florida, USA

Equipment Used:  Nikon D500, Nikon 60mm Macro Lens, Ikelite Canon D500 Camera, Dual Ikelite DS-160 Strobes

Camera Settings: 1/250, F20, ISO 250
