The Story: One of the most exciting things about drifting in the middle of the ocean at night over deep water is that you never know what exciting and rare creatures you might come upon. A prime example is this beautiful larval Lionfish. These tiny babies neither like to be disturbed by lights nor like to sit still so it can be quite a challenge to capture their full beautiful potential in a photograph. Unfortunately this invasive species is no longer a rare sight in Florida waters so there are ample opportunities to practice. In only a few weeks this stunning little fish can become a voracious predator ready to destroy local reef ecosystems.
