World of a Pike

Tobias won a 7-night dive trip on any of their Solomon Island liveaboard cruises from Bilikiki Cruises

The story:  In the idyllic, clear lake of Skällinge, in the southwestern part of Sweden there is a small area of waterlilies. I have often seen pikes there. They are usually quite shy and the meeting will most of the times be over in a few seconds. This day I tried a new strategy. I looked out a nice backdrop and then waited with a huge portion of patient. A few pikes went by, all with too much distance to me. But then, this one came with a lopsided grin jaw. My heartbeat increased when it slowly swam towards me. I did not use flash this time. And I guess that saved me from scaring the pike.

Location:  Skällingesjön, Varberg, Sweden

Camera:  Nikon D7100 and Nikon 10.5mm Fisheye Lens (F7.1, 1/200, ISO 500) with Ikelite Housing
