The Pirate and the Kraken 3

The Story:

Daniela came to our shooting week with that amazing octopus costume.

Unfortunately, the tentacles were filled with styrofoam and were swimming at the surface only. But immediately we had so many ideas, made a storyboard and asked Niels if he would be the pirate to fight with the kraken in our story. Then we searched for a material that would allow Daniela to dive with the costume. It took us hours to replace the styrofoam. After that, we included some elastic band in some of the tentacles to give them a realistic curled look.

Before we had our shooting in the deep pool, we tested the costume in a shallow pool, to prevent Daniela from drowning. Already the test shots of Daniela in the shallow pool were amazing and so funny. The tentacles were drifting and Daniela had no problems performing with that costume.

The final shooting day in the deep pool came, we prepared the outfit for our pirate Niels, grabbed all materials for the background and off we went to realise our ideas of the pirate fighting with the giant octopus.

The shooting was amazing, the interaction of Niels and Daniela was perfect, Daniela could dive up and down with her neutral balanced outfit and the costume was playing in important role as the tentacles stunningly filled the scene. We got a lot of great shot, having the funniest day of the year.
