Join Michael Zeigler, contributor for the Underwater Photography Guide and trip leader for Bluewater Photo, for this incredible workshop!

Amazing accommodations coupled with incredible diving will make this a trip to remember!  Wakatobi has some of the best reefs in the world, including their fantastic House Reef, which is just steps from your bungalow.

This is an underwater photographer's paradise.  Not only do the reefs here offer amazing opportunities from supermacro to wide-angle, the facilities for your camera gear and maintenance are awesome!  Wakatobi also offers nitrox for those who are certified, which will help with all of the awesome repeat diving we'll be doing!

We'll be having evening presentations in their Cinema & Media Center to help you improve your photography, and we can share our photos from the day's adventures at the jetty bar.  What's not to love?

About Wakatobi

Wakatobi Dive Resort is located in Southeast Sulawesi, Indonesia which is in Southeast Asia. Access from Europe or the US is easy with many airlines offering flights to one of the major cities in Asia and on to Denpasar, Bali which is the gateway (and most amazingly beautiful stopover on the way) to Wakatobi. You can read the fabulous guest testimonials here.

Accommodations

Garden Bungalow

These very comfortable bungalows are located slightly behind and in-between the front-row Beach Bungalows amidst beautiful palm trees and other tropical plants. Available both on the south and west section of the Resort. Some garden bungalows even have ocean view.

Beach Bungalow

Front row with an ocean view on the south beach. See the fish jump, hear the gentle waves and listen to the birds - all while seated on the balcony or in one of the comfortable lounge chairs in front of your bungalow. The ones on the south end of the resort are the ones with the best breeze from the ocean and is an excellent choice for those who prefer to enjoy a holiday in the tropics without the use of air conditioning (this applies primarily during the mid-year "summer" months).

Select Beach Bungalow

The Select Beach Bungalows are located directly on the beach north of the jetty. They're simply gorgeous! They all have huge front porches with comfortable lounge beds / cushions and a stunning views. They also have indoor bathrooms and huge Asian spa-style outdoor showers.

Wakatobi in November

From November until March the water temperature averages 28 - 29 C (82.4 F- 85 F).
The water temperature range is ideal for coral growth and there is no coral bleaching in Wakatobi.

For 99% of the year, the air temperature ranges between 26 - 30 degrees Celsius. (78.8 - 86 Fahrenheit).

Underwater visibility is mostly between 20m and 50m, with an average of 35m or 100 feet. There are no rivers or lakes bringing sediments, therefore visibility is not affected by rain.

Another perfect Wakatobi sunset.

Getting to Wakatobi

You will need to make an international flight from your gateway city to Bali Indonesia. Several airlines operate convenient flights from both the East and West coast of the US and Europe. In most cases, your flight to Bali will involve a full day of travel and the crossing the international date line (if traveling from the US).

Both of our charter flights will leave Bali BEFORE any international flights arrive in Bali, therefore same day connections are not possible. You will need to spend at least one night in Bali. This hotel stay also allows you to rest from your long flight and adjust to the time changes. In fact, we recommend that you try to fit in at least 3-4 days in Bali as it's one of the most beautiful, serene and amazing tropical islands in the world.

The last leg of your journey to Wakatobi will be a VIP flight on a private chartered plane to the resort's own airport. We usually have two planes - one leaves early in the morning and the other leaves around noon. Your trip itinerant and resort package will determine which flight you are scheduled to go on. The flight takes approximately two and a half hours. On board you will be served a snack and drinks by our flight attendants while you enjoy the beautiful scenery of Lombok's Rinjani volcano and the offshore reefs and atolls en route to Wakatobi. Flight from Bali to Wakatobi is not included in the trip price, and will cost $675.
