A review of the Marelux SOFT Lite XR-W Snoot

Note from the Editor: The new Marelux SOFT Lite is now only 600 grams on land and completely neutral underwater! This is compared to the anodized aluminum, 790 gram SOFT Pro which is 210 grams underwater. Every generation of Marelux SOFT seems to get lighter, brighter, and longer lasting!

A deep dive into the black sheep of exposure settings

ISO is the black sheep of exposure settings. For many new photographers it can be difficult to understand what the setting is and what it does. We hope that this article will be a source of enlightenment (pun intended) for those of you wondering what you should do with your ISO setting when taking underwater photos.

GoPro action cameras are some of the most popular cameras for underwater video shooters. While they produce incredible footage for such a little package, the compact size of a GoPro does lead to some limitations. The most significant one for underwater videographers is the lack of underwater video controls. The GoPro touch screen is inaccessible underwater.

Go-to strobe positions for underwater macro subjects using creative techniques - reduce backscatter and achieve black backgrounds!

Lighting is one of the most important keys to underwater macro photography. It brings out incredible detail from subjects and makes vibrant colors pop. Without it, underwater photos can look dull, flat and blue. Light also adds a great deal of visual interest - especially when we venture into the creative side of photography. Black backgrounds? Yes.
