Fish behavior

Last dive I toke some pictures of two Tompot blenny (Parablennius gattorugine), and one of them had some kind of pearl in is mouth.
At first look, I thought it was some physical problem, like decompression, but after while looks more like a spherical object he was grabbing.
It could be food?
My guess is it was a egg. It could be one of their egg, and he (male) was moving it.
