I would definitely appreciate your input on this. My question is:

I layman's terms, what are the best ways to reduce the blur, of moving objects? Indoor and outdoor? (for sports and dancing)

The best way to reduce blur is to increase the shutter speed. The faster moving the subject the higher the shutter speed.

Another interesting technique is to use a very slow shutter speed and only have your strobe (very small f-stop) do all the illumination. Often this works great if the ambient is not very bright.
