Anyone been to snake island in the Banda Sea ? It's an unreal experience with different types of sea snakes mating in large numbers...

I think Bill V.A. has been there but I'm not sure. Snake island is not too far from Ambon, is that correct?

Scott, I found this unusual dive site on the Archipelago Adventurer II, boarded out of Ambon, but was several days away and could only get there if the weather and the seas cooperated.
I've seen plenty of sea snakes Fiji, Indonesia, etc... but nothing like this were they bred in large number in twisting balls of "crazy"

I was lucky enough to go there in 2005 with Larry Smith and took this little video on my digicam. There 6 snakes in this clip. After a while you don't even see them anymore, as Cindi demonstrates.

Gunung Api is the name of the island. There is a neat video on
www.blueviews.net
of some of the many snakes that we saw there.
Great place

Sea snake Island in Gunung Api in Indonesia's Banda Sea is a famous diving destination. There are hundreds of sea snakes in Banda Sea. These sea snakes are poisonous and non-aggressive. But we can see large number of scuba divers looking for underwater sea snakes without any fear.
