Ikelite port body length vs image quality

Greetings,
I'm using an Ikelite housing for 5DII, and have a port body given by my friend. It is Ikelite standard zoom port body, #5011.16, for lenses up to 3.5". I'm using canon EF17-40L lens. According to its spec., I should be using the extended zoom port body, #5011.24. However, I'm able to fix the lens inside the standard port body with a dome assembly. I test it on land, I don't find any much different in image quality, expect image is wider with the dome assembly attach than without it. Anyone has any experience with this combination? I don't want to purchase another port body if this combination is good enough. Thanks. Enjoy...

My suspicion is that you will have soft corners with the shorter port.

you will not see a difference on land, but you will see one underwater.
You can read more about dome port optics.
