I just carry it on as hand luggage - I have a Sea & Sea DX-1G and it has it's own carry case - so I guess thats one of the benefits of a compact.
Never had any trouble travelling internally in Australia or overseas to Thailand carrying it that way.

On a quest, myself, to avoid over charges I have been miniaturizing and reducing all of our gear. My S90 and FIX90 housing, strobes, arms, chargers, batteries, fisheye and macro lens, cables, tray and clamps, everything I need to shoot pics, is in this carry on size and weight hard case:

I much prefer to hand carry camera equipment which means it must be carry on legal.

I'll expand on this in the second part of the article I am doing but the first piece is deciding how much gear you want to travel with. I travel compactly most of the time and I can fit all my camera gear into my one carryon and a computer bag. I prefer this. What this means though is that I don't travel with 47 lenes and 4 camera bodies. Having a lot of lenses is great but I've found that I can shoot almost everything I want with three lenses and this dramatically cuts down on what I have to schlep all over the world. This is where I start. More on this soon .....
Happy diving everyone!

Yes now Spirit has limited to one checked bag under 40 pounds! I will not use them anymore
This what I do I carry on with me all my photo gear. My Ikelite housing, ports (macro and wide) and the two strobes they go in a hard shell carry on suitcase padded with left over foam from a Pelican case. Everything fit well. Then camera, lenses and laptop as well as one of my prescription mask in a laptop Lowepro day backpack. So I will take any risk of loosing any thing due to theft. I Only take 3 lenses on Scuba trips! 10-20 and 85 VR II macro and 18-125 for surface shots!
If any one would like to see it just ask for the pics
Cheers
Hey guys I am going to Anilao on May! Any one going?

I carry almost all my UW photo kit as hand luggage. The only exception is the Ikelite AF35 strobe which is too bulky to pack in the hand bag. I used to put bubblewrap around the strobe head and put it between my clothes in the checked-in baggage but now I am getting the Honl photo wrap which makes it more secure.

I take 2 bodies (7D), three lenses (100, 60 and 10-17), macro and small dome, housing (Nauticam) and a single Inon s2000 strobe plus arm in my Thinktank backpack. More than 7kg for sure but so far no issues. Other stuff goes into a big blue Storm case that of course we end up paying lots for. We think of overweight fees as part of the ticket price, but I wish you could buy them at the time you buy your ticket.
