Night Dive shooting

Hi just wanted to ask a question on a recent night dive. New camera and my 3rd night dive, I was shooting wide angle with dual 161 ikes, i had the strobes set on light with flash.. At times it was frustrating because my camera wouldnt take the shot. I assume this is because I couldnt get focus on the turtle swimming towards me (until it was closer attached pic)? or would it be another reason why at times the camera wouldnt take the shot. Do I have a wrong setting selected?

In autofocus mode you will need quite a bit of light on the subject to achieve focus lock. Alternately you can set your camera up for manual focus and it will shoot whenever you press the button. Unfortunately there is no free lunch in this regard. A very bright focus light (much brighter than the 161) is probably in your future.
