S90/FIX Mods Update

The DIY Divinycell flotation worked great. The rig was just slightly negative. The foam is very resilient and resistant to damage on the boat or underwater. http://www.uwphotographyguide.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=540

The 10bar / Dyron AD wet lens adaptor combo works fine and is cheaper than some alternatives. The perimeter of the port glass on my housing is scratched, however - apparently the Inon AD lenses fit a little too close. Damage is not "seen" by the camera at full W/A or zoom, and it's the plastic base of the lens which is rubbing, so that glass is OK. Yes, the acrylic dome on the Inon UFL-16AD is softer than hard coral - I'll have to order some Micro-mesh as Scott refers to here. Looking at the damage, it's a wonder the camera doesn't "see" that scratch either. http://www.uwphotographyguide.com/underwater-housing-maintenance

I see a pattern here. I think I need to be more careful with my expensive stuff!

I think I would try Plexus before resorting to the Micro Mesh papers.

My UFL165AD rolled around on the reefs off Jupiter for several days on it's own recognizance and survived with only one tiny scratch probably from the boats platform whacking it so if you are scratching your lens by ramming it into coral, you might want to revisit that concept

That Inon dome has a scratch resistant hard coat on it so it will be removed by whatever mechanical method you use to reduce the scratch. If the scratch does not appear in the photos it might best be left alone.
