Naia Live-aboard in Fiji has completed cabin refit

In January of 2010 a tragic explosion during dry dock required that the cabins be rebuilt. Over the last few months the work teams have worked tirelessly to compltete the work before the upcoming trip to the Phoenix Islands.

The Naia has long been known as one of the premier live-aboard's in the world. First class service, and world class diving make this boat a must on every serious divers list.

I had the pleasure of doing a 10 day trip last year and was blown away at the quality of the diving and friendly crew. I look forward to the next trip with great anticipation.

I heard someone actually died in the explosion. It's great that the boat is repaired and ready to go, I've only heard good things about it.

Unfortunately two men died in the explosion. The boat had just completed dry dock and was set to go in the water. The painting crew was inside when the explosion occurred. I am not sure what caused the accident.

The boats owners and crew while safe were devastated as was the entire community. That the owners were able to secure a replacement vessel and not cancel a season of charters speaks to the their commitment to their crew and clients.

There is something special about the Naia, and the diving in Fiji. For those that have not been on a charter you might want to add it to your list of must do trips.

Sorry to hear about the tragedy.
Still have my Nai'a hat and have great memories (all be it on film) of my trip with a group of 12 friends.
Glad to see the cabins redone as I almost took to wearing a football helmet to bed in the top bunk.
