A very long and eventful martime history, scenic coastline, countless wrecks (two battleships, cruisers, destroyers, hundreds of freighters and a number of U-boats), scenic reefs, generally cold water (drysuits only), variable visibility (sometimes exceptional, all too often very dark and forbidding) and a day's jouney from Scapa Flow.
