Hi Salil,

I have fond memories of Panaji, as I backpacked around India some years ago. Alas, I was not a scuba diver then.

Your nice nudi appears to be Elysia ornata. This one has a wide circumtropical distribution.

Cheers, Kevin

Thankyou Kevin

Oh If You Come to India Again Try Goa( Visibility 7-10 Mts. Max. ) or Andaman Nicobar Islands ( Visibility 20 + Mts. ) or Lakshadweep ( Visibility 20+ Mts. )

Oh So Its Not a Nudi but Resembles Like a Nudi
Its a Sea Slug

Thanks for the dive suggestions Salil. Perhaps I shall take a dip in the waters of India one of these days.
The common name "sea slug" is a synonym for the more scientific term "opisthobranch", of which nudibranch is but a subset (order). So you are correct i.e. not all sea slugs are nudibranchs, but all nudibranchs are sea slugs.

Cheers, k;-)

This is Elysia ornata. Page 79 in the new Indo-Pacific Nudibranchs and Sea Slugs. Nice shot.
